A New Chapter for Scalpay: Community Centre Refurbishment Complete & An Cala Café Opens

We are delighted to announce the completion of the refurbishment of our Scalpay Community Centre, marking an exciting new chapter for this much-loved community space.


After months of planning and hard work, the transformation is now complete, creating a refreshed, welcoming environment designed to better serve our community, celebrate our heritage, and provide improved facilities for everyone to enjoy.


A key part of this exciting redevelopment has been the opening of An Cala Café — a new community café offering a warm and inviting place for residents and visitors to meet, relax, and enjoy good food and company.


We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported this project, from our funders and contractors to our community members who have shown patience and encouragement throughout the refurbishment. Your support has helped bring this vision to life.


The completed refurbishment represents an important investment in the future of Scalpay, creating a space that can be enjoyed for years to come and providing new opportunities for community connection, events, and heritage activities.

Scalpay Community Association Announcement

We are excited to announce that the planned refurbishment work of our Scalpay Community Centre is almost ready to begin! This marks an exciting new chapter for our much-loved community space.


We have been successful in securing the necessary funding and signed a contract for the works with OMAC construction Ltd.


Work is planned to start early November, ’25 with an expected completion date of June/July ’26.


To allow the work to proceed safely and efficiently, the Community Centre will be closed to all bookings from 31st October 2025.

 

The External Toilets and Showers will also be close for the duration of the work.
